Our Mission

At K9 Water Leak Detection University, our mission is to conserve water, protect infrastructure, and serve communities by training and certifying canine-handler teams with the highest professional standards.

We know that lasting impact comes through partnership. That’s why we collaborate closely with water operators, utility crews, water districts, municipalities, and government agencies. Together, we’re building a united front against water loss — where trained detection dogs strengthen the efforts of those already working on the ground to safeguard one of our most precious resources.

Who We Are

K9 Water Leak Detection University is the nation’s first vocational training center dedicated exclusively to canine water leak detection. Located in Grove, Oklahoma, our programs combine:

  • Decades of professional dog training expertise — in scent detection, obedience, and field deployment.

  • Hands-on water infrastructure knowledge — backed by years of experience in plumbing and municipal systems.

  • Collaborative partnerships — ensuring our graduates work in step with utilities, operators, and government programs.

We don’t just train dogs and handlers. We prepare teams who are ready to integrate seamlessly with public works crews, engineers, and decision-makers.

Legacy Spotlight

Honoring the Blessings That Paved the Way At K9 Water Leak Detection University, we believe that every step forward is built on the shoulders of those who came before us. We are grateful for the pioneers whose work was not just a profession, but a calling, a gift and a blessing that continues to ripple through our mission today. Carrie Kessler – A Legacy of Faith & Firsts Carrie Kessler holds the honor of being the first water leak detection trainer in North America. Her pioneering work opened the door for an entire field of service, showing that dogs and their handlers could be instruments of stewardship, protecting one of God’s most precious resources: water. Though now retired, Carrie’s life and work stand as a legacy and a blessing, reminding us that the seeds planted in faith can grow into movements that serve communities for generations. Her example continues to inspire our University to walk in excellence, service, and gratitude for the opportunities that she's inspired and given. “A faithful pioneer whose legacy blesses the work we carry forward.”
